holloway
The paths named Holloway or hollow way were those worn into the softer ground by pack horses, they are most significantly found today where laden horses had to climb hillsides. Quite often, the hills are marked with a series of holloways running in parallel, where, as one became choked with debris, the drover would move on to create another.
